Our Stories: Folk and Found

This year, our Monday homeschool production class has devised a performance piece based on Tarheel tales from each of the three NC regions.  From the Appalachians, we will present a known “Jack Tale”  –  Jack and the New Ground.     We will share another folk tale The Magic Lute from the Currituck region of the Coastal Plains.   Our third story is a true, or “found” tale from right here in the Piedmont. We have partnered with the Garner Area Homeschoolers to research and create a documentary project based on the Panther Branch/Juniper Level Rosenwald school of Garner,  The Forgotten Foundation of Black Education.  The performances are free to the public and will be presented:

April 1, 3:00 at the Southeast Regional Library,  908 7th Avenue
Garner, NC 27529

April 15, 2:00 at Daniels Auditorium at the NC Museum of History 5 E. Edenton St.
