Audition Slam series

Have you ever wanted to try out a new piece for an audience BEFORE the pressure of the actual audition? Do need to know more about the process of finding out about upcoming shows, headshots, preparing monologues or the like? OR maybe your kid is dying to be in a play and you don’t even know where to start. Well, have we got the event for you! Get ready for a brand new series that creates opportunities for local artists of all ages to hear tips from some local professional artists and then either try out that new piece or just watch and enjoy the show – in a NO PRESSURE environment that is part master class, part showcase, part cabaret!

To begin, our facilitator will present tips with regards to a specific audition related topic. Then, 10 performers will have 5 minutes each for a one-minute monologue and/or a 16-bar song followed by thunderous applause and feedback from the facilitator.  Please bring your own accompaniment track on CD, flash drive, or mp3 player.

Topics will vary monthly.  December 17th, Raleigh based performer and vocal coach Alison Lawrence will be opening the event with some tips on how to choose audition songs that set will set YOU apart at your next audition!

While the Audition Slam series will be a co-production of Seed Art Share and Theatre in the Park, performers are not “auditioning” for any particular company, season, nor show.

The goal is of these events is to provide audition education and give performers an opportunity to try out audition pieces in a fun, no-stakes environment. We hope that audience members will also love the education and entertainment!

Fee: $20 performer, $10 patron, parents free.
