Large Group Integration Workshops
Fast paced, interactive workshops geared for 10-40 students. $5/child ($100 minimum). These traveling classes bring the props and activities to you. Volunteer to coordinate a workshop and your family plays free! Parents are welcome to drop off or stay and play.
Comedy and Tragedy: Greek/Roman Style In this fast paced 1 1/2 hour workshop, K-5 students will explore the ancient roots of live drama. We will explore the text of a famous Greek Tragedy and have fun clowning around as Roman stock characters. Appropriate for 10-40 children, we bring the props and fun to you. Parents may drop off or stay, watch, or play. Coordinate a class and your kids play free.
African Folk Tales Kids will explore traditional African stories using drama and puppetry techniques.
Medieval Madness This Smart Arts class is takes kids on a journey through the 5th through 15th century! Joust, create a pageant wagon with your guild, and slay dragons as we explore the Mystery, Miracle, and Morality plays of the Medieval period! (Say that 5 times fast!)
Bard in the Yard (Elementary edition) Enjoy a morning * Texploring the life, language, and stories of William Shakespeare! This traveling class brings the props and activities to you. Host a BIY class in your yard and play free! This 1 1/2 hour intro to Shakespeare class features theatre games and group explorations of sonnets and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. It is a fast-paced, interactive workshop for ages 5-11 (respective grown-ups are welcome!).
Bard in the Yard (Middle and High School edition) 6-12th graders will explore the poetry, comedies, and tragedies of William Shakespeare. Using theatre games and writing exercises, we will create sonnets of our own and read scenes from Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, and Taming of the Shrew. *Class may be tailored to include any pieces your group may already be studying.
Newtons’s Laws of Fun Learn about Sir Isaac Newton’s Three Laws of Motion by playing movement games and theatre activities. Great for budding scientists, actors, movers and shakers!
American Docs Rock! This large group workshop reinforces teamwork, public speaking skills, and memorization techniques using the Bill of Rights and quotes from famous Americans. Join us for an hour and a half of fast-paced theatre games, story dramatizations, and small group performance activities. Appropriate for children ages 5-11 years old.
Tales From the Mountain 90-minutes of creative drama activities that explore the literature and geography of United States mountain regions. K-5th grade.
Economics This workshop uses art, math, and theatre games to explore occupations, inflation, and tips for saving and spending money!
Ground Breakers, Art Makers, and Risk Takers: The Great Women of American History. Using story dramatizations, poetry, and speaking exercises we will explore the words and wisdom of 15 amazing women in American History.
